Toward evening as Steve reached Skull Pass in Utah, his feet and his body told him it was time to end his Run Across America for Autism Awareness. He simply could not continue. As difficult as this was for Steve, he realized he had nothing left in his weakened body to maintain this grueling run. His body was not absorbing nutrition and his feet could not support him.
Steve's spirit is down as his goal to run across America a second time was not to be. I know we all support Steve in his effort and commend him for attempting what rarely has been accomplished. We appreciate what he, his road crew (Gary and Mike), his sponsors, support team, and his legions of followers have done to raise awareness for Autism. Steve is truly a remarkable man. God bless you and all of your supporters, Steve.
"May you run and not be weary and may the road you travel always bring you home."
Isaiah 40:31 and Handt Hanson
Thank you for following Steve on his journey. He looks forward to visiting with you. Your prayers and your support have made all the difference.

Day 15 - Sunday, June 2, 2013
Steve reached Utah this morning. Upon arriving in Utah, I was able to contact Steve and Gary to tell them Steve's Aunt and Gary's sister Mary Jane Knowlton died earlier today. The entire Knowlton family is grieving. Mary Jane has a grandson with Autism. He is one reason Steve is running across America. Comments and picture to be posted later.

Day 14 - Saturday, June 1, 2013
Steve had an interesting run today. He and his crew followed a road through Ghost Town, Nevada. The steep mountain road was full of switch backs. It was windy when Steve reached an old cemetery on top of the mountain. At the base of the downward slope of the mountain, he discovered another cemetery. It was dusk so he kept running. He did encounter two live people while running but had no conversation with them. Steve and Mike lost phone contact with Gary who was on the far side of the mountain in the RV. They reunited at 10 PM and decided to call it a night.

Day 13 - Friday, June 1, 2013
Steve completed his run last night running the last 2 miles to Ely Nevada with his dad, Gary. Steve ran up and down several mountains, the highest being 7,600 ft.
Mike worked on Steve's legs as the people from KoKo Fit suggested. This has helped to relieve the pain and the swelling.

Day 12 - Thursday, May 31, 2013
Steve is headed for Eureka NV. Today was a much better day for Steve. Mike helped get Steve's legs ready for the long run today via some stretching excercises.
Steve is running through great physical pain but has a spirit that will not quit. He is amazing and knows that friends and families all over the country are following him. The families who are experiencing Autism and the school children who know about Autism believe in Steve's ability to complete this run.
The Star Tribune newspaper ran a fine on-line article about Steve today www.startribune.com.
